About the Project

WorldCupGardenState.com (forwarding to WorldCupAC.com) is a comprehensive digital platform connecting FIFA World Cup 2026 visitors to New Jersey businesses, entertainment, and experiences throughout the Garden State.

As New Jersey prepares to host 8 matches at MetLife Stadium—including the World Cup Final—we're building the definitive resource for the 1.2+ million visitors coming to our region.

NJIT's World Cup Connection

Your university is already making significant contributions to World Cup 2026 through multiple groundbreaking initiatives:

AI-Powered Fan Sentiment Platform

Students and faculty at NJIT's Martin Tuchman School of Management developed an innovative fan sentiment and analysis platform that:

  • Tracks real-time fan reactions before, during, and after World Cup events
  • Aggregates data from social media and online sources to capture fan sentiment
  • Monitors trending hashtags, popular conversation topics, and geographic patterns in fan activity
  • Provides insights on a national scale with particular focus on the New Jersey/New York region
NJIT President Teik Lim: "This project exemplifies our commitment to community engagement and innovation."

Architecture & Urban Design Initiative

Through a grant from the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA), NJIT's Hillier College of Architecture and Design led by Professor Gernot Riether explored:

  • Using the World Cup as a placemaking opportunity
  • Reimagining public spaces as community gathering areas
  • Strategic, small-scale interventions generating social and economic impact
  • Ensuring municipalities without large stadiums can benefit from the World Cup

Students presented their concepts directly to the NJTPA, demonstrating how design can transform communities during major sporting events.
