Casino Pier is one of the most historically significant boardwalk amusement parks in New Jersey — a pier that has been entertaining Jersey Shore visitors since 1932. Located at the heart of Seaside Heights’ famous boardwalk, it offers 35+ rides ranging from the Hydrus roller coaster to classic boardwalk favorites like bumper cars and the Tilt-a-Whirl, all in an oceanfront setting that defines what the New Jersey Shore experience looks like.
For international visitors, Seaside Heights is among the most culturally iconic Shore destinations — the boardwalk that MTV’s Jersey Shore made globally recognizable. Beyond the pop culture angle, the town delivers a genuinely excellent boardwalk experience: rides right over the Atlantic, fresh seafood and boardwalk food in every direction, a wide beach, and the kind of American summer energy that’s hard to find anywhere else. The pier itself was partially destroyed by Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and rebuilt — a testament to what this community values about its Shore heritage.
Across the street from the pier, Breakwater Beach water park adds a full water park component to the day, with a wave pool, Lazy Crazy River, Zero Gravity Racer six-lane mat slide, tube slides, and giant hot tubs. Between the pier and the water park, there’s a full day’s worth of entertainment at one of the Shore’s most complete all-in-one destinations.
The Dentzel/Looff carousel that first arrived in Seaside in 1928 — with its original Wurlitzer Military Band Organ from 1923 — has been carefully restored and relocated to a dedicated carousel museum building near the boardwalk between Carteret and Sampson avenues. It reopened July 3, 2024 after a multi-year restoration and relocation project. For visitors interested in boardwalk history, it’s a genuinely rare piece of American amusement park heritage.
