Senegal Training Here This Summer
New Brunswick has a direct connection to the tournament — Rutgers University was selected as Senegal’s official base camp. The national team will train at Rutgers’ state-of-the-art athletic facilities during the group stage. Senegal plays at MetLife Stadium on June 16 (vs France) and June 22 (vs Norway) — both just 30 miles away.
“Few events bring the world together quite like the FIFA World Cup, and New Brunswick is proud to be part of that global celebration. Hosting World Cup watch parties at The Yard gives our residents, students, and visitors an opportunity to experience the excitement of the tournament in a fun and welcoming environment.”
— Mayor Jim Cahill, City of New Brunswick
“There is no event in the world that generates more passion and enthusiasm than the World Cup, and The Yard is the perfect place for the diverse culture of New Brunswick to come together to celebrate.”
— Christopher Paladino, President, New Brunswick Development Corp. (DEVCO)

About The Yard
A landmark destination on the Rutgers University College Avenue campus
The Yard opened in 2016 as part of a major revitalization of the Rutgers College Avenue campus by the New Brunswick Development Corp. (DEVCO). The 14-story mixed-use development houses 160 undergraduate apartments and 15,000+ sq ft of retail space at the corner of College Avenue and Hamilton Street. Its 25,000-square-foot public green courtyard has become one of the most popular gathering spots on campus and in the city, hosting concerts, game days, and community events year-round.
For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, The Yard was designated as the city’s official Watch Party Headquarters — broadcasting all 104 matches on its 350 sq ft Jumbotron overlooking College Avenue.
