Lake Lenape Park East sits on the eastern shore of Lake Lenape in Hamilton Township — the more scenic and recently reimagined side of Atlantic County’s flagship freshwater park. A comprehensive renovation completed in 2023 added a new fishing pier extending into the lake, two pickleball courts, additional pavilions with electric and water hookups, landscaping enhancements, and significant ADA accessibility improvements. The result is a park that feels genuinely fresh while preserving the serene lake setting that has made Lake Lenape one of South Jersey’s most beloved inland escapes.
The eastern shore offers the most photogenic views of the lake — visitors regularly describe the sunsets as unmatched in the region. Lake Lenape itself is part of the broader Great Egg Harbor River system, which holds “Wild and Scenic” federal designation, and the 2,000 combined acres of the east and west parks protect a significant section of one of New Jersey’s most ecologically important river corridors. Over 160 bird species have been recorded on the lake, and bald eagles are visible in winter.
For World Cup visitors seeking a half-day inland escape from the ocean and casino energy, Lake Lenape East delivers something genuinely different — a calm, tree-lined freshwater lake with picnic tables, birdsong, and the kind of unhurried pace that is surprisingly hard to find 20 minutes from Atlantic City.
